The City of Soissons and its partners are launching a call for applications for a mission residency under the Qu(art)iers program. Artists from all fields of artistic expression are invited to apply around the theme: «Links that unite us: Let’s remember Soissons!»

What is the principle of this call for applications?

The town of Soissons and Grand Soissons want to engage in a promising and unifying project over the next two years (2024 and 2025). This project, developed as part of the regional programme Qu(art)iers, consists of a mission residence arts and cultural education in priority neighbourhoods of the City.

Around the theme “Links that unite us: Let us remember!” and in accordance with the program Qu(art)iers, Soissons, resilient city, city of memory, city of art and history, cultural city, center of an agglomeration characterized by the same historical, cultural and social issues, wishes to extend an invitation to artists wishing to work on its development. This invitation is part of a policy focused on the city and its inhabitants; it is based on a dense network of cultural and heritage structures, both at the scale of the city itself and the agglomeration (Grand Soissons) and its rural communes.

In this context the city of Soissons and the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs (DRAC) of Hauts-de-France, in connection with Grand Soissons and the Prefecture of Aisne seek an artist from all fields of artistic expression.

It is a residence of three months, consecutive, or twelve weeks of physical presence, at a rate of 5 to 6 days per week. The mission residence will take place in 2024. It will include a week of immersion between June 10 and 23, 2024, while the actual mission residence will take place during the eleven weeks between September 23 and December 8, 2024.

What is a Qu(art)iers mission residence?

The mission residences «Qu(art)iers» are initiated for the purpose of cultural democratization, artistic and cultural education and social cohesion.

It is, for the artist, to engage in an approach giving see and understand artistic research who animates him, as well as the creative processes he or she implements (reflections, experiments, achievements).

The artist relies on forms of meetings, interventions or very varied actions different from traditional artistic practice workshops. There is no issue of production, nor order of permanent work: this type of residence is not confused with a creation residence.

On the other hand, sharing times to make visible the artistic work carried out during the residency are encouraged.
