What is the principle of this call for applications?

The city of Laon and the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs (DRAC) of Hauts-de-France, in connection with the Académie d'Amiens and the Prefecture of Aisne, are seeking, in view of residence-mission Qu(art)iers, a artist from all fields of artistic expression.

The residence-mission Qu(art)iers is for all the inhabitants of a district concerned by the policy of the city (QPV) with a particular consideration of young people (children, adolescents and young adults), on the different times of life.

Through the "MétamorphoseS" theme, the artistic presence will develop new views and new appropriations of the city. Shaped by urban and nature, public spaces are rich in social rites and uses, whether they are common spaces such as schoolyards, public squares or pathways that connect the different neighborhoods.

It is a residence of three full months, consecutive, or thirteen weeks of physical presence, at the rate of 5 to 6 days per week, to be distributed over the period of October 1 to December 15, 2024.

What is a Qu(art)iers mission residence?

The mission residences «Qu(art)iers» are initiated for the purpose of cultural democratization, artistic and cultural education and social cohesion.

It is, for the artist, to engage in a An approach that shows and understands the artistic research that drives it, as well as the creative processes that it implements (reflections, experiments, achievements).

The artist relies on forms of meetings, interventions or very varied actions different from traditional artistic practice workshops. There is no issue of production, nor order of permanent work: this type of residence is not confused with a creation residence.

On the other hand, sharing times to make visible the artistic work carried out during the residency are encouraged.
