Theatre, circus, music, dance, or on stage… the performing arts, the second largest cultural sector in terms of economic weight after audiovisual, covers a wide variety of aesthetic fields.
The study Ticketing of the live show in 2022 of the Department of Studies, Foresight, Statistics and Documentation (DEPS) establishes a very first photograph of the ticketing of the live show in 2022 based on data reported to the device of the Ministry of Culture SIBIL (Ticketing Information System) and enriched with those of the National Music Centre (CNM) and the Association pour le soutien du théâtre privé (ASTP).

The diversity of live performance induces a great heterogeneity from one aesthetic domain to another but also within the same domain, where the number of representations, spectators, the recipe per ticket and per representation vary.
Thus, concerts bring together half of the public and generate the highest revenues in front of the theater and associated arts, musicals, humor, cabaret, music hall and dance. If the diversity of artistic proposals is great, so is that of the declarants. One representation in two is declared by a commercial company, one in three by an association and one in six by a public institution or a territorial collectivity. At the same time, two out of ten representations are given within the network constituted by national public institutions or structures to which the Ministry of Culture has issued a label or a designation.
The attendance and types of shows offered are detailed in this study which establishes a very first photograph of the ticketing of the live show in 2022.
