2019 marks the 60th anniversary of the Ministry of Culture. On this occasion, the Department of Studies, Foresight and Statistics is organising a forum changes in cultural policies, placing them in a European and international context, on the theme of territories. This day, bringing together scientific contributions and the views of experts in the sector, will examine the modalities in which cultural policies have tackled territorial issues – at various levels: subnational, national, European, international – in the digital age. The notion of territory, the foundation of the structuring of society and indispensable for thinking about the spaces in which public action takes place, is today challenged under the influence of several dynamics: an already old movement, the globalization of cultural production and exchanges, the evolution of spatial mobility and modes of territorial anchorage, the development of digital uses combining individualized and local interaction practices and fostering the emergence of global actors, finally, the reformulations of a doctrine of public action combining issues of decentralization, deconcentration, and recentralization.
