Diagonal Network
The DIAGONAL Network is the only national and European network bringing together structures for the production and dissemination of contemporary photography that are also dedicated to the development of image education practices.
Created in 2009 on the initiative of the Ateliers de l'Image - Centre Photographique Marseille, with its 23 members, this network brings together recognized photographic institutions, photography centres in the regions and cultural structures in the field “historically” settled in the territories. http://www.reseau-diagonal.com/
Historical
The Marseille Photographic Centre, a centre for artistic dissemination and image education, has been offering artistic and educational photography activities since 1996. In 2006, a conference at the Nicéphore Niépce Museum in Chalon-sur-Saône brought together various actors in this field in France. On this occasion, the Marseille Photographic Centre launched the idea of meetings between associative structures conducting educational actions. Since then, the recognition of the multitude of proposals existing in France, in different territories, the absence of links between these practices, the need and the difficulty of working together, has given rise to this network project over the course of the discussions.
