Study on the economic and social situation of the authors of the book

In order to better appreciate the situation of the authors of the book (writers, translators, illustrators, screenwriters and cartoonists/BD colorists, ...), today shaken by the development of the digital economy, the Ministry of Culture and Communication has designed and implemented a study device of unprecedented scope.

This system, coordinated by the DGIMIC, comprises five surveys and statistical operations:

three national statistical surveys or operations were carried out by the departments of the Ministry of Culture and Communication and the National Book Centre (CNL);
two other surveys by regional structures for books (MOTif, Observatoire du livre et de l'écrit en Île-de-France, and Fédération interrégionale pour le livre et la Lecture) associated with the scheme.
