Rencontres Malraux
Why?
The French experience in cultural policies and cultural management is of interest to many partner countries. The exchange of experience between professionals from different geographical horizons is a inspirational for rethinking existing practices and frameworks. It is this observation that led the French Ministry of Culture to create in 1994 the Meetings Malraux, reflection seminars abroad.
For whom?
Les Rencontres Malraux are intended primarily for institutional leaders (ministries of culture or related structures, cultural institutions contributing to the implementation of cultural policies nationally or regionally). For the French part, this programme involves experts from the Ministry of Culture, its public institutions, partner cultural structures, other ministries or local authorities.
How?
Les Rencontres Malraux are most often implemented jointly with countries engaged in major cultural policy reforms (creation of a Ministry of Culture, reorganization of the cultural administration in a phase of transition, reflection on the reorientation of cultural policies, creation of new cultural facilities, etc.).
Organized at the request of the third country (Ministry of Culture or equivalent national institution), key steps for structuring partnerships.
Lasting for 2 to 3 days, they are in the form of conferences, debates and workshops associating French and country experts inviting (political and administrative authorities, professionals, academics). The themes are proposed by the authorities of the host country and the programme then agreed upon.
