European experts meet in Paris
For two days, 19 European experts - cultural advisers, high and senior officials on issues of discrimination and the fight against inequalities within the Ministry of Culture and the European Commission, cultural professionals - meet in Paris to discuss gender inequalities in Europe’s cultural and creative sectors. Conceived as a moment of dialogue and exchange of good practices, this seminar will allow participants to attend the presentation of different projects during 6 thematic workshops before starting discussions to identify new recommendations to be shared between European countries and with the European Commission.
A dense programme of 6 workshops to promote gender equality
Dedicated solely to the cultural and creative sectors, six thematic workshops make up the programme of this European seminar:
- deconstruction of gender stereotypes,
- statistics and data,
- women’s access to responsibilities,
- fight against sexual and gender-based violence,
- promoting equality in public funding,
- work-life balance.
Both at European and national level, the Ministry of Culture is taking action to combat gender inequalities.
The Ministry of Culture supported the inclusion of gender equality in the EU culture work plan 2019-2022. For several months in 2020, he also worked hard to develop recommendations and proposals for the European sector, institutions and countries.
During the French presidency of the Council of the European Union (1st semester 2022), equality between women and men was a cross-cutting theme included in all the priorities carried by France. This will led to the organization of a Equality Forum - for gender equality in Europe from 8 to 10 March 2022, in Angers and inaugurated by the Minister of Culture.
This 2023 seminar in Paris is a continuation of this work.
