Work of the CNPS Employment Commission
The Conseil national des professions du spectacle (CNPS) was instituted by order of March 29, 1993, as amended on August 27, 2013.
From this Council, the Standing Committee on Employment (became in 2013 "Employment Observation Sub-Commission") is composed of representatives of professional entertainment organizations, social organizations and administration, as well as experts from the world of research. Its mission is to produce an objective and shared knowledge of employment in the field of entertainment (live and recorded shows) and strives to pursue three objectives:
- build a statistical information system on employment in entertainmentfrom all available national and professional sources, regularly updated; this system is now composed of about ten different sources; it now produces data updated each year on employment, the activity and enterprises of the sector, at national and regional level;
- produce methodological recommendations (in particular, in terms of the definition of the scope of the show from the official nomenclatures) necessary for a harmonization of study approaches, both at national and regional level;
- draw up, on the basis of regularly produced statistical data, a shared diagnosis of the employment situation in the show, evolving.
The data provided here meet the first objective above. They include the up-to-date data available on the field of entertainment employment, whether from Public Statistics (Census of Population, Employment Surveys, DADS) or management bodies (Caisse des congés spectacle, Pôle Emploi, Audiens, Guso, Afdas).
