Architecture and landscape quality
The 1977 Architecture Act, in its Article 1, states that "architectural creation, the quality of buildings, their harmonious insertion in the surrounding environment, respect for natural or urban landscapes and heritage are of public interest" asserts a natural link between architecture and landscape.
In fact, building a quality living environment cannot be reduced to paying attention only to built buildings: the landscapes of today are the result of complex development policies that must articulate all the elements that make up the territories, in time as in space.
Thus, the public policy of architecture is closely linked to landscape quality issues. Landscape issues raised by the Ministry of Culture and Communication in partnership with other jurisdictions and in particular with the Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition, include the following:
- partnership with the National Federation of Regional Natural Parks (FNPNR) ;
- development policy for wind and photovoltaic power generation systems and impact on the territories, at all scales;
- land artificialization and land consumption, both in peri-urban and rural areas;
- densification policy and changing urban landscapes.
