This meeting establishes the partnership between the national gendarmerie and the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs/Regional Service of Archaeology by strengthening the synergy of the State services on the ground.

An agreement between the regional prefect and the general commanding the gendarmerie in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur was signed in December 2020. This agreement was extended to the entire national territory by a framework agreement signed in July 2022 between the Directorate General of the National Gendarmerie and the Ministry of Culture (Directorate General of Heritage and Architecture).

During this seminar, an exhibition of archaeological material of all periods and origins, counterfeit archaeological material, as well as instruments of illicit updating of these riches, allowed participants to become aware of the future discoveries they will discover during their investigations.

This seminar is part of the exchanges planned during the next International Symposium on Archaeological Looting and Illicit Trafficking in Antiquities 12 and 13 October, which will be held at the Museum of History in Marseille.
