Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICP)
According to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage adopted by UNESCO in 2003, intangible cultural heritage or ICP means the practices, representations, expressions, knowledge and know-how - as well as the instruments, objects, artefacts and cultural spaces associated with them - as communities, groups and, where appropriate, individuals recognize as part of their cultural heritage.” These practices concern mainly, but not exclusively, oral, musical or choreographic traditions, languages as supports of these traditions, traditional games and sports, festive events, craft know-how, knowledge and know-how related to knowledge of nature or the universe. The involvement of persons or groups carrying an intangible cultural heritage is the first condition for safeguarding this heritage.
