Saint Peter’s Church: restoration of Christ on the Cross The great Christ (High. 150 cm by 145 cm wide, 50 cm deep) of the church of Saint-Pierre de Charpont in polychrome wood had been laid for many years from his beam of glory for unknown circumstances. On the occasion of a tour of proofs, the statue abandoned under the pulpit was inscribed under the title of historical monuments (20 February 2012) and the commune agreed to undertake a restoration in order to put Christ in a new situation. Altarpiece restoration in painted and gilded oak, classified as historical monuments (arr. of 17 November 1908). The main intervention consists in the release of the underlying polychrome. Long and meticulous work initiated in 2009 and to be completed in 2012, revealing a completely transformed altarpiece. (Download the complete datasheet opposite) |
Restoration of the Chesnay Mill The expertise of the Historical Monuments Department has shown that the original structures of the mill can be preserved to more than 70%, the shortness of breath mainly affecting the trattes, or beams of the lower floor, and the frame, the main beam carrying the whole structure and ensuring its mobility by leaning on the Bourdon, huge axis pole of the set.
