The aim of this event is to make the public understand the importance of knowledge, protection, conservation, maintenance, restoration, creation of gardens and the transmission of know-how. It is also an opportunity to federate the many actions that already exist at the national and local level (in particular the actions implemented by the regional cultural affairs directorates and local authorities).
The owners and managers of the gardens are invited to organize specific activities: guided tours, demonstrations of know-how, exhibitions, games/competitions, openings until dusk ... In addition, the owners are encouraged to give visitors an explanatory sheet containing information of historical, geographical, architectural, botanical type...
The Rendez-vous aux jardins are organized by the Ministry of Culture, Directorate General of Heritage, in collaboration with the Comité des parcs et jardins de France, the Demeure Historique, the Vieilles maisons Françaises and the Centre des monuments nationaux.
