Architecture at the DRAC Nouvelle-Aquitaine
The DRAC Nouvelle-Aquitaine conducts the cultural policy of the State in the field of the promotion of architectural, urban and landscape quality in the region, relying in particular on its twelve departmental units of architecture and heritage (UDAP).
State action for architectural, urban and landscape quality
The DRAC conducts the State’s cultural policy in the field of the promotion of architectural, urban and landscape quality in all 12 departments of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
As such, it is responsible for:
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of architectural, urban and landscape policies with a view to sustainable spatial planning;
- Support architectural and landscape design;
- Provide leadership and coordination of professional networks and dissemination of architectural culture in the regions;
- Contribute to the recent heritage awareness policy;
- Participate in the regional planning of tools for the management of protected areas: remarkable heritage sites (SPR), protection and development plans (PSMV), architectural and heritage development plans (PVAP), delimited perimeters of the surroundings;
- Coordinate the actions of the 12 departmental units of architecture and heritage (UDAP);
- Ensure the investigation of appeals against the opinions of architects of French buildings;
- Participate in the development and animation of the network of cities and countries of art and history (VPAH);
- Ensure the role of government commissioner to the regional council of the order of architects.
It contributes, through the expertise of its twelve departmental units of architecture and heritage (UDAP) to promote quality architecture and urban planning that integrate harmoniously with the surrounding environment.
The DRAC Nouvelle-Aquitaine implements, in the regions, the policy of the Ministry of Culture in terms of the promotion of architectural, urban and landscape quality. In this way, it accompanies dissemination activities and animates the network of 130 architecture advisory and mediation structures in Nouvelle-Aquitaine (see map opposite).
It acts in relation with the Regional Order of Architects, the network of four Houses of architecture of the region, the Council for Architecture, Town Planning and Environment- the CAUE - the Cities and Countries of Art and History Aquitaine, urban planning agencies and theNational School of Architecture and Landscape of Bordeaux.
