Contract for the visual arts in Nouvelle-Aquitaine
Signed on June 28, 2018, in the presence of Jacques Mézard, Minister of Territorial Cohesion, the contract for the visual arts in Nouvelle-Aquitaine is the first one concluded in France.
At the Annual Conference organized by the Federation of Contemporary Art Professionals (CIPAC) on 9 October 2017 in Paris, Régine Hatchondo, Director General of Artistic Creation at the Ministry of Culture, welcomed the exemplary dynamism of contemporary art professionals in Nouvelle-Aquitaine for their commitment to Visual Arts Development Orientation Diagram (SODAVI) A review of the challenges facing the visual arts sector as public policy evolves.
Co-built by DRAC Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the Regional Council and the three professional networks Cartel, Cinq/25, and Fusée, brought together today a single entity named Star, SODAVI Nouvelle-Aquitaine is entering an active phase that required a financial commitment of 125,000 euros, in 2018, at parity between the State and the Region, to the challenges highly observed by the professional visual arts sector as well as communities and other regions of France.
This new approach to consultation between visual arts stakeholders and communities in the same territory has led to a shared diagnosis of the sector, to define common objectives, and develop and prioritise operational axes to be developed both on the economic and cultural sector.
In Nouvelle-Aquitaine, this contract for the visual arts sector has two main focuses:
- "The place of the artist"
- "Territorial development"
