Theatre and entertainment
As an integral part of the artistic creation sector, the theatre and entertainment department is responsible for implementing state support for the creation and dissemination of art in the fields of theatre, circus arts and the street.
The theatre and shows department promotes the creation, optimization of networks and the structuring of professional broadcasting, the promotion of musical, choreographic and dramatic heritage.
In this respect, the service carries out an analysis of the specificities and strengths of the region. This global action to implement the guidelines of the Ministry of Culture uses different modes of intervention on the ground and is based on the evaluation of artistic creations, advice to cultural actors, information on the theatrical and circus life of the region.
Normandy includes a large number of artistic creation and dissemination structures, supported by the DRAC, some of which are part of national networks such as national and regional drama centres (CDN-CDR), national stages, the conventioned scenes, the poles of circus arts and puppetry, the networks of diffusion, the companies conventioned. The structuring of these networks is a priority for the State, as they are the major tool for registering a global policy in a given territory.
In the field of creation, the service monitors and evaluates the work of the companies, gives them advice and, after consulting the committees of experts, proposes financial support measures, with a constant concern for a search for new aesthetic forms. In terms of the dissemination of these works and their meeting with the public, structures engaged in a process of welcoming creators and seeking new audiences are particularly followed.
Finally, awareness of the artistic practices of the school public is the subject of particular attention, in connection with the Ministry of National Education and in connection with the service for arts and cultural education.
