Two Hauts-de-France museums awarded
The second prize has been awarded to the museums of Dunkerque/ LAAC, which for more than a decade have been exemplified by an innovative and inclusive policy constantly driven by the desire to articulate and combine social and professional integration. Their long-term partnership with the Dunkerque Detention Centre is a perfect example of the desire to increase in-and-out exchanges and circulation.
With the «The museum according to you», the museum of Cambrai received the third prize. For the past three years, this museum has developed a bold concept that questions the possible porosity between “conservation” and “audiences”. The team addresses the residents of the city’s priority neighbourhoods and strives to make the museum a space of citizenship.
Dare the Museum Award
On 17 May 2016, the Ministry of Culture set up the Museums of the 21st Century mission. This reflection shared by the entire network of Museums of France gave rise to the report Inventing museums for tomorrow whose conclusions were presented in March 2017.
The findings of the XXI Century Museums Mission were embodied in a series of measures, including the creation of the Dare the Museum Award. This award distinguishes museums engaged in a proactive and innovative policy towards people in situations of exclusion or social and economic vulnerability.
The second edition of the Osez le musée prize confirmed the interest aroused by a device that testifies to the great diversity of museums in France, their strong territorial anchorage, and their dynamism to meet all audiences.
The jury, which was largely open to national solidarity associations, last October, awarded the second and third prizes to two museums in the Hauts-de-France region.
