The result of an interdepartmental policy initiated by the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education, and managed, at the national level, by the Medici Workshops, the Creation in progress » aims to cross the issues of cultural democratization, the professional integration of young artists and the fight against territorial inequalities.
It is a support mechanism for emerging creation that concerns the laureates of higher education culture for less than five years and support for professional integration. The young artists' residence has two components.
As part of a three-month creative and research residency, artists must document their research and residency time through publications on the website Creation in progress ».
A second component is to develop the presence of contemporary artists in schools (lasting a minimum of 20 days from January to June 2018). This time dedicated to arts and cultural education allows artists to experience mediation and transmission and students of schools chosen in each department (students of cycle 3: CM1, CM2, 6th) to live the experience of creation in direct contact with artists.
This year, following a national call for applications, 150 projects carried out by 190 artists from all artistic disciplines will be deployed throughout the country, in mainland France and overseas.
