The label meets the criteria of composition quality, site integration and outstanding elements. Botanical interest, environmentally friendly maintenance, and public education are added to the above criteria.
These three gardens join the five other «Remarkable Gardens» whose label has been renewed, bringing their number to eight. North: the arboretum park of the wolf manor in Halluin, the Jardin de la ferme du Mont des Récollets in Cassel, and the Barbieux park in Roubaix. Pas-de-Calais: Séricourt Gardens in Séricourt and Liane Gardens in Chériennes. Whether they are amateur or professional gardens, the «remarkable gardens» are open to visitors at least 45 days a year and can be identified by a logo.
Department of North:
• Mosaic, the garden of crops in Houplin-Ancoisne: the thematic gardens of Mosaïc Park, created as part of the Deûle Park from 2004 onwards, are no longer presented in an original concept: through ten gardens, the cultures of men and women who came from other horizons to participate in the construction of the Lille metropolis are mixed. Popular success was quickly at the rendezvous.
Department of Pas-de-Calais:
• Between Montreuil and Le Touquet, the Jardins du manoir d’Hénocq in Bréxent-Ēnocq extend to the back of a 16th century brick mansione century. Of medieval inspiration, organized in squares with an «alley of chatter», a «bird bath», woven wickers, which offer a framework for medicinal or tinctorial plants. Each part of the garden lends itself to a historical, botanical and symbolic reading.
• In the sea plain, the Jardin du Beau Pays in Marck is the work of a young gardener. It is composed of 20 small gardens of different styles with very varied atmospheres, offering multiple surprises like an oceanic greenhouse with many exotic varieties. For connoisseurs, botanical richness is appreciated.
The label «Remarkable garden»
Created in 2004 by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, to recognize, value and promote both historic parks and newer gardens. It is renewable every five and can be revised. The full list is available on www.parcsetjardins.fr
