Alain Gest, President of Amiens Métropole, Pierre Savreux, Vice-President of Amiens Métropole for Culture and Heritage, and Franck Sénant, Deputy Regional Director for Hauts-de-France Heritage, inaugurated the Centre for the Interpretation of Architecture and Heritage (CIAP) of Amiens, January 25, 2024.
Located on the forecourt of the cathedral, and more precisely on the first two floors of thetourist office of Amiens Métropole, it consists of a permanent exhibition space, a second temporary exhibition space, an educational room and an auditorium.
This new CIAP offers a discovery and understanding of heritage, architecture and landscapes d'Amiens and the 38 municipalities of the metropolis, labeled Country of art and history since 2013. It embodies a policy in favor of the quality of the living environment and the heritage sector from its knowledge and census to its mediation with the public.
Directly related to label City and country of art and history, awarded by the Ministry of Culture, the CIAP pursues the following objectives:
- Of raising awareness targeted audiences, residents, tourists and especially young people and their families;
- OFexperimentation new mediation mechanisms;
- Of valuation the territory, its history and its actuality through a creative scenography.
It is then part of a regional network of 18 labeled territories and more than 200 nationally.
The support of the DRAC Hauts-de-France
It is under the label Ville et Pays d'art et d'histoire, that the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs (DRAC) of Hauts-de-France has funded the scenography and scientific content of the CIAP permanent exhibition up to €100,000.
