Simon Ducros, Curator of Historical Monuments at the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs of Hauts-de-France, explains the BCSP Terms and Conditions and unveils the issues that make up the exercise. Relive, in pictures, the intervention, ranging from the verification of the smooth running of the safeguarding plan, through coordination between the parties, up to the experimentation of the manipulation of art objects by the teams of the departmental fire and rescue service of Pas-de-Calais (SDIS 62).
On September 26, 2023, a mock fire is reported to the cathedral of Arras. The teams of the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of Pas-de-Calais (SDIS 62) immediately go on site for a reconnaissance of the place.
Once the fire – fictitious - circumscribed and extinguished, the Plan for the Safeguarding of Cultural Property (PSBC) is activated. This plan coordinates backup actions, establishing the order and nature of operations related to works of artWhether it’s evacuation or protection. It also provides the necessary human and material resources for each operation, taking into account factors such as the materiality of the objects, their condition, their location in the building, their dimensions, their weight, their vulnerabilities, and of course their historical and cultural value.
