“It must be understood that the improbable and minuscule splendor of fireflies...does not metaphorize anything other than humanity par excellence, humanity reduced to its simplest power to signal us in the night.”
Georges Didi-Huberman, "The Survival of Fireflies"
The company «les Lucioles s'en mêlent» was invited to reside in the heart of the community of communes Thiérache du Centre, located in Aisne, as part of the Culture-Rurality Contract territorial. Over the course of several months, the artists developed numerous actions jointly built with partners and residents.
In this context, the company has designed the project "Our Wild Pages – Living with the Living" specifically targeting the early childhood public and relying on the book as a privileged companion and support, to deploy sensitive and poetic explorations combining shadow theatre, puppetry, visual arts and dance. Children, parents, accompanying professionals and more broadly the inhabitants of the Thiérache du Centre were able to explore these different universes and wonder about the relationship they have with the living world and their way of inhabiting the territory.

In order to highlight the strength of all these meetings and dialogue between artists and multiple professionals in charge or in responsibility of children, adolescents, young adults, etc. engaged in artistic education actions on the regional territory, the association Heure Exquise! produced since 2016 with the support of the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs (DRAC) of Hauts-de-France a collection of short films entitled "Perspectives on artistic and cultural education".
Every year, Heure Exquise! calls upon several artists of the animated image and invites them to bring their creative gaze to these encounters.
Spring of rurality
Printemps de la ruralité is a national consultation on cultural life in rural areas.
Every Frenchman, resident, elected local, cultural or associative actor, is invited to seize this national consultation and to make its contribution.
In Hauts-de-France, nearly 3,200 municipalities are «rural». They cover 82% of the regional territory and shelter just over 1.7 million people, or 29% of the regional population.
