The regional department of archaeology of the DRAC Hauts-de-France publishes the fifth issue of the collection «Archéologie des Hauts-de-France».

Entitled «Lille, le couvent des dames de l'Abiette» on 5e number of the collection «Archéologie des Hauts-de-France» was produced in collaboration with Inrap. This illustrated brochure presents the main results of the archaeological excavation that took place in 2015 rue de Tournai in Lille.

The Ladies of the Abbiette

In the heart of the city near the Lille Flandre train station, the remains of the Dominican convent, known as the Ladies of the Abbiette were unearthed on the occasion of this excavation. The booklet traces the main stages of the history of this convent from the 14th to the end of the 17th century. Through the study of the furniture found, the life of the nuns is also evoked.
