Saint-Julien Church in Tours (37)
The church of Saint-Julien, (...) seems to have been built with a single stream, in accordance with a single plan (...) its correction and elegance place it at the forefront of the Gothic temples". Émile Souvestre, La mosaïque de l'Ouest et du Centre, 1846-1847.

On the initiative of Prosper Mérimée, then Inspector of Historical Monuments, the church of Saint-Julien was inscribed on the first list of protected buildings in 1840. It is followed by an important restoration led by the architect Gustave Guérin [1814-1881] in the middle of the 19th century. After the Second World War, a new campaign was carried out by the Chief Architect of Historical Monuments, Bernard Vitry.
The Church of Saint-Julien is the property of the State which ensures its maintenance, restoration and development.
