DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes: The Regional Heritage and Architecture Committee is consulted on the creation, management and monitoring of public utility easements and urban planning documents established for the purpose of protection, conservation and enhancement of cultural heritage. It may propose any measures designed to ensure the protection, conservation and enhancement of heritage and architecture.

The Regional Heritage and Architecture Commission has three sections:
- The first section is responsible for the protection of buildings under the title of historical monuments, plans for the enhancement of architecture and heritage, the allocation of labels, the delimited perimeter of the surroundings and urban planning documents.
- The second section is competent in architectural projects, studies and works on buildings, in case of disagreement between the competent authority for urban planning authorizations and the architect of the Bâtiments de France and in case of derogation from the urban planning document for projects whose implementation is of public interest in terms of quality as well as architectural innovation or creation.
- The third section is competent for the protection of movable objects in respect of historical monuments, preventive conservation, studies and related works.

The Regional Committee on Heritage and Architecture consists of ex officio members and members appointed by decree of the regional prefect for a period of five years.
Placed with the representative of the State in the region, it includes persons holding a national or local elective mandate, representatives of the State, representatives of associations or foundations with the aim of promoting knowledge, the protection, conservation and enhancement of heritage and qualified persons.
The President of the Regional Heritage and Architecture Commission is chosen by the Regional Prefect from among the members holding a national or local elective mandate. If the President is prevented from attending, his duties shall be carried out by the regional prefect or his representative.
The CRPA replaces the previous regional commissions of heritage and sites and departmental commissions of movable objects, as a result of the changes made by the Law No. 2016-925 of 7 July 2016 on freedom of creation, architecture and heritage.
