Sunday 21 June 2015, on the occasion of the 34th edition of the Festival of Music, the Ministry of Culture and Communication highlights the opening to all, the discovery and the sharing in an atmosphere for Living music together », and offers several free concerts in the Jardins du Palais-Royal.
From 2.30pm, the concert of ' The Amazing Key Stone Big Band»* will introduce everyone, children and adults, to jazz in all its expressions from an original and playful adaptation of «Pierre et le loup» by Serge Prokofiev. This large orchestra composed of young French musicians will play this major work of the classical repertoire, where as in the original version, the different protagonists of the tale are personified by instruments. Since its presentation at the Vienna Festival in 2011, “Pierre et le loup… and jazz” rejoicing young and old!
From 18.30, the public is invited to actively participate in concerts of the Gardens of the Royal Palace.
“Chloé X Ircam”, a live interactive experience **
With Chloe, one of the most sought after artists on the electronic music scene, Sounds circulate from machines to public mobiles. Everyone can take part in the concert by launching certain musical sequences from their phone, thanks to the dedicated application (http://chloe.ircam.fr). The use of new Web Audio technologies, just released from the Ircam research labs, and Chloé’s composition for the Fête de la Musique will provoke an unprecedented experience!
A great collective improvisation led by Ibrahim Maalouf ***
At 8 pm, Ibrahim Maalouf invites amateur musicians, whatever their level of practice, to come improvise with his guests. This moment of sharing and collective creation will be followed by the coda of the «Illusions» tour, his album awarded with the Victoire de l'album de musiques du monde in 2014. At the end of this concert, he will be joined by the Bagad de Cap Caval, a dynamic school of music, symbol of a lively Breton culture, which counts more than sixty young people trained to learn the bombard, the bagpipe, the caisse-clear Scottish or percussion. The evening will thus end in a great moment of collective creation with multiple horizons.

About the Music Festival
Since its creation by the Ministry of Culture and Communication in 1982, the rural communes and the small, medium and large cities of France have invested in making 21 June a popular moment, an expression of musical life as a whole and a reflection of its permanent dynamism.
The Fête de la Musique is aimed at all audiences and helps to familiarise young and old people of all social conditions with all musical expressions. It is a participatory, festive and collective event: made for and by the public, which takes place mainly in the open air and in the public space.
The Festival of Music is held without spirit or profit. Musicians are invited to perform on a volunteer basis and all events must be free to the public.
Since 1982, attendance has grown and the scale of the Fête de la Musique is such that in 2014 more than 120 countries celebrated it across more than 700 cities, transforming it into an emblematic international musical event.
*' The Amazing Key Stone Big Band » is a large jazz orchestra conducted by Jon Boutellier, Bastien Ballaz, Frédéric Nardin and David Enhco. It is composed of 18 musicians among the best and most active of the new French generation. For several years, the orchestra has had the opportunity to collaborate and write music for internationally renowned artists such as Rhoda Scott, Liz McComb, Michel Hausser, Bill Mobley and Cécile McLorin Salvant. Like the "Monday Night Big-Bands" in New York, the orchestra regularly performs in Lyon and Paris jazz clubs, as well as on prestigious stages (Vienna jazz festivals, Munster, Rhino Jazz(s), operas in Saint-Etienne, Lyon, Monaco), etc.
**Chloe is an electronic music artist with a demanding and unclassifiable aesthetic whose live mix audio and visual. She started in the 90s in Parisian clubs and honed her talent as a DJ across Europe. In 2010, his second title, «One in Other» (Kill the DJ), was nominated for the Victoires de la Musique. His shows are presented in many concert halls, spaces dedicated to art, including the Centre Pompidou, with his play «The Surreal and Its Echo» in 2011. Chloé mixes different artistic disciplines and collaborates with the world of cinema and dance, including choreographer Fabrice Ramalingum.
*** After “Diasporas” (2007), “Diachronism” (2009) and “Diagnostic” (2011), Ibrahim Maalouf published «WIND » in November 2012 which will earn him the title «Artist of the Year» at the Victoires du Jazz 2013. Recently, it is for his 5th album «Illusions» that Ibrahim will receive the award of the Best Album of World Music at the Victoires de la musique 2014. It is with the band with which he recorded this album that he will travel around the world until December 2014. This public and professional recognition will lead him to receive several awards, notably from UNESCO, which gives him the title of "Young Artist Working for Dialogue between the Arab World and the West".
