At its 66th edition, the Bafta - British Academy of Television and Film Arts, awarded Emmanuelle Riva the Bafta as the best actress for her performance in «Amour», by Michael Haneke. It is a great pride for our cinema to see the triumph of one of its stars which, in 1961, had already touched this same award for «Hiroshima, mon amour». I warmly congratulate this wonderful actress so dear to the heart of the French who, at nearly 86 years old, still finds it surprising and marvelling.
I am delighted that “Amour”, Michael Hanecke’s film worn by the couple Emmanuelle Riva – Jean-Louis Trintignant, already wearing the Palme d'Or 2012 and the Golden Globe, has been awarded the Bafta award for best foreign film. This film honours the work of its Austro-German-French director and co-producers.
