Tribute by Frédéric Mitterrand, Minister of Culture and Communication, to Christian Poveda

I am deeply moved by the tragic death of Christian Poveda, one of our magnificent photographers, who was murdered in a vile and completely gratuitous manner. He loved his work passionately. Of Spanish blood, he loved deeply, sincerely, this country of San Salvador, where his life stopped brutally. His heart was beating and suffering for this troubled region of Latin America, from which he sent us vivid images of truth and humanity. His love and courage were cowardly rewarded, by the very people whose motives he had sought to understand. These are the very people that his last film as director shows: «La vida loca». Many of us should pay tribute to his talent and courage by going to see this film when it is released on September 30.
