The presence of contemporary authors in the territories covers several issues:
- promote the discovery of literary creation in all its diversity
- inscribe literary creation in the territories and the author as an actor in local cultural life
- encourage new forms of exchange and mediation between authors and audiences
- develop a taste for reading
- support authors, essential links in the book chain.
The objective of this call for projects is to encourage long-term actions (between 2 and 8 months) involving a territory (district, city, intercommunality) or a cultural or social structure of the region with an author living in the Pays de la Loire for different target audiences. It offers the opportunity to create a lasting relationship between an author of the region and a territory, to set up mediation projects, possibly throughout a cultural season, by varying approaches and audiences in a kind of companionship.
What is the call for associated authors?
This mechanism facilitates the proximity between the author’s place of life and the beneficiary territory. Depending on the nature of the projects, an on-site installation may be considered, but on an ad hoc basis. The author can thus continue his professional activities and preserve his personal environment. The device is therefore different from traditional residences involving an installation of the author away from home. The challenge is to promote the knowledge of Loire authors on their own territory, and to allow them to get involved in the cultural life of their territory.
Objectives
It is about supporting mediation programs designed in connection with an author around his work and/ or his artistic and literary approach. These departmental or local outreach programs are to be deployed as of September 2024 or over the 2024-2025 school year. Their duration should be from 2 to 8 months.
With priorities:
- promote a better understanding of the process of literary creation and the author’s place in the book chain
- propose targeted mediation actions to different audiences over the duration of the project and promote the diversity of audiences
- encourage the intersection of practices (workshops, meetings, interviews, collective creation, literary walks, etc.) and involve different actors in the territory depending on the nature of the project (library, bookshop, school, retirement home, community social structures, etc.).
