It aims to initiate and pursue a reflection on the teaching of the theme of ecological transition in architecture schools, while federating teachers interested in this theme.

Birth of the ENSA ECO Network

The Ecological Transition Education Network in ENSA, “ENSAECO”, was founded in November 2016. The impetus of the COP 21 had contributed to this because it had given rise to the ENSA Paris-Belleville to several labeled events, including the day of meetings and state of the art on the ecological transition in the ENSA organized by the ENSA Paris-Belleville on November 26, 2015.

Origins of the ENSA ECO Network

The ENSA ECO Network has its origins in a series of meetings that took place between 2006 and 2009.

The first meeting of teachers on the theme of teaching architecture and urban planning in the era of sustainable development took place in Nancy in 2006. It was a pedagogical meeting at the initiative of some committed teachers, which made it possible to create a first form of informal network on this topic. This will make it possible to initiate a series of meetings, all dealing with the teaching of sustainable development in architecture schools. Meetings were held in Lyon in 2007, Grenoble in 2008 and Versailles in 2009.

In 2015, the idea of reforming an official network was revived. It emerged from the deliverables of the inter-school pedagogical seminar on teaching the ecological transition in the ENSA » which took place on November 26, 2015, at the ENSA Paris-Belleville. This seminar was part of the actions launched by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, within the framework of COP 21. Having obtained the label «COP 21», the seminar of 26/11/2015 brought together 16 contributions of teachers from all the ENSA of France, as well as interventions from CEREQ, CNOA and the Ministry of Culture and Communication. It marked the commitment and support of the Ministry of Culture and Communication on the teaching of the ecological transition in the ENSA and allowed to initiate the reflections for the creation of a Network.
