This barometer, the realization of which was entrusted this year to the companies Com'Access and Oceane consultingis carried out in partnership with the Fulbi (Federation of Software Users for Libraries, Information & Documentation) for the 2e component, with the association CareNetwork for the 3e with the Bibliothèque nationale de France, the Bibliothèque publique d'information, theAssociation des bibliothécaires de France - Accessibib commission as well as theAssociation Valentin Haüy for his expertise on issues of access to books and information for people who are prevented from reading because of a disability.
In the continuity of the barometers carried out in 2014, 2016 and 2019, the Digital accessibility barometer in public reading aims to measure, on a regular basis, the level of consideration by public reading libraries of digital accessibility standards (WCAG, RGAA). Criteria relating to "user journeys" are also taken into account.
The barometer has three components:
- accessibility of library websites and portals (quantitative and qualitative parts);
- accessibility of online catalogues (OPAC);
- accessibility of digital resource platforms.
Each of the three components has been the subject of a selection of sites and platforms, as well as specific protocols, validated by the steering committee. The evaluation of the accessibility of content (e-books, resources...) is not part of the scope of this study.
A plate "Digital accessibility in public reading" provides the main results of this 4th edition of the barometer, as well as some recommendations. print version is also downloadable.
