Music that comes from all over the world, that opens the mountains to distant horizons, that leads enlightened amateurs, musicologists, but also all those who know nothing about music and are content to appreciate it. Six days of shows, more than twenty concerts… this is the Festival de Musi'Queyras which celebrates its 32nd edition from July 14 to 20. They are also improvised scenes under a tent, in the squares of the villages, in the churches. An event that attracts more than 4,000 spectators each year. “ This Festival makes vibrate a whole territory ” Henri Charrier, President of the Musi’Queyras Association, congratulated. “ These are not only concerts, but also animations, workshops, workshops and a folk ball, intergenerational, where the inhabitants of the territory and the holidaymakers mingle.”
Concerts at home and in shelters
The rest of the year, Musi'Queyras does not fall asleep on his instruments. The association also organizes courses, including the famous Mizik-Miglisse in March, combining the joys of music with those of skiing and concerts.
« We schedule two tours of concerts at home, village to village as well as concerts in mountain huts, musicians moving, on foot, from one to the other. These are very convivial moments, which promote a great proximity between the artists and the spectators.”
Queyras Factory or the modernity of Trad
Musi'Queyras also launched an ambitious musical, educational and artistic program: Queyras Factory.
« The professional musicians of Groove Factory and a dozen amateur musicians thus reclaim the musical heritage of the Hautes-Alpes and weave social and artistic links through our collective memory. Their mission: to create a contemporary folk repertoire combining traditional local music from the Hautes-Alpes and Italy with techniques of contemporary music, samples, pads... 2024 will be the culmination of their work with concerts in and out of the territory.”
A superb project that values an entire territory. Because if traditional music is part of our history, it also embellishes our present.
