Toulon Provence Mediterranean, ensembles and residences from 1945/1975
This document is the result of a study commissioned by the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Regional Cultural Affairs Directorate (DRAC PACA) with the technical assistance of the SDAP du Var and carried out in 2007/2008.
It inventories the complexes and residences of more than 100 dwellings during the period 1945-1975 over the entire territory of the agglomeration community: Toulon Provence Méditerranée - TPM, the following communes:
- Carqueiranne,
- The Guard,
- Hyères,
- Ollioules,
- Le Pradet,
- Le Revest-les-Eaux,
- Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer,
- Seyne-sur-Mer,
- Six-Fours-les-Plages,
- Toulon,
- Valletta du Var.
There were 199 housing estates representing 33,579 dwellings in 10 communes. Only the municipality of Revest-les-Eaux has no group of more than 100 dwellings initiated during the period
These projects and residences include the stock of social and private housing. The cards are filled in by municipalities: by their name and by cadastral sections. The address, the location, the date of obtaining the building permits, the authors of the project, the importance of the operation, the status of the operation, the general typology of the operation, the archival references, the owner or manager, the photographic reference.
To understand them in the territory and facilitate their location, a general identification allows them to be located at the scale of the agglomeration on a IGN fund provided by the DRAC PACA.
By commune, the identification is done by cadastral section on the cadastre ground provided by the services of TPM (GIS service) with the agreement of the services of the Var tax services directorate.
This directory is supplemented by three indexes on the whole territory: by operation name, by year on the whole territory and by author as well as a photographic directory of operations referenced by commune and by cadastral section.
This directory updates the post-war housing production in Toulon. It is intended to be the most comprehensive within the constraints of the study, given that this theme had not been explored before.
It is above all a base of reference and of evolutionary work according to new researches and the needs that may arise within the agglomeration, the communes and the organizations of management of social or private housing.
Monograph sheets
26 sets were the subject of detailed monograph sheets (see selection of sets and residences).
They were selected on the basis of the criteria defined by Recommendation No. R(91)13 of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (link), retaining the creations not only for their aesthetic data, but also for their contribution from the point of view of the history of techniques and of political, cultural, economic and social developments.
The characteristics of each selected set are mentioned in the first area of the corresponding sheet.
