A fortuitous discovery is the act of finding an archaeological site or object by chance, without seeking to uncover any remains. It occurs most often during work, but also during daily activities such as gardening or walking. It is therefore within everyone’s reach.
The person responsible for the discovery is qualified as an inventor. The inventor is a natural person and not a legal person. Thus, a worker finding an archaeological object while working for a company will be considered the inventor.
