Architecture, uRbanism and sites
The DRAC is responsible for promoting architecture and architectural creation in the Ile-de-France region. It brings its expertise in architecture and urban planning under the policy of the City, focuses on developing the actions of knowledge and dissemination of the architectural culture in partnership with the councils for architecture, urban planning and the environment (CAUE), architecture schools and the house of architecture. With the STAP, she is responsible for the monitoring of urban planning documents and more particularly for the procedure of creation of areas of enhancement of architecture and heritage (AVAP). She is in charge of monitoring the policy of cities and countries of art and history (VPAH). The Regional Director is represented by the Service at the Ordre des architectes en Île-de-France in her role as Government Commissioner. Monumehistorical nts
The Regional Conservation of Historic Monuments (CRMH) ensures the protection, conservation, restoration and enhancement of historic monuments. Under the Heritage Code (under the terms of the Historical Monuments Act of 1913), it investigates protection cases submitted to the Regional Heritage and Sites Commission (CRPS), chaired by the regional prefect.
She identifies and studies the movable objects to protect, investigates the files of the departmental commissions of movable objects (CDOM), in liaison with the curators Antiquities and Objects of Art. In the field of restoration, it draws up technical, legal and financial work programmes for classified historic monuments and ensures the conduct and control of these operations in liaison with the chief architects of historic monuments, the architects of French buildings, the curators of historic monuments and the curators of antiquities and art objects. It authorizes, controls and possibly subsidizes restoration work on monuments included in the additional inventory. It designs, stimulates or supports the implementation of any action of knowledge or valorization of the heritage (publications, "European Heritage Days", "Rendez-vous aux jardins").
Archaeologistie preventive
The DRAC, in the field of preventive archaeology, studies, protects, preserves and promotes the archaeological heritage of the region. It ensures the enforcement of legislation and regulations on archaeological excavations and discoveries, on the use of soil and basements and on the protection of archaeological remains. (Decree no. 2004-490 of 3 June 2004, as amended, concerning administrative and financial procedures in the field of preventive archaeology). It prepares the programming of planned excavations and annual surveys in accordance with national recommendations. It prescribes and controls preventive archaeology operations (diagnostics and excavations) made necessary by spatial planning operations and implemented by various authorized operators. (Administrative aids and procedures). It manages the file of deposits and excavations, and more generally of all archaeological documentation. As such, SFA documentation is an open resource. (See Cultural Resources). It oversees the publication of the research results. It controls the excavation depots. It ensures the link with the services of other partners (local authorities, operators...the archaeological activity in the region, by engaging in particular activities of animation and information of the public.
Musees
The DRAC supports museums in France (defined by theLaw no. 2002-5 of 4 January 2002), promotes their development and accompanies them in the actions they lead towards the public. Under this new law, it organizes the regional scientific commission responsible for all objects acquired (purchase, donation, bequest) by a museum in France and for restorations. The DRAC monitors and assists, in close liaison with the French Museums Service of the Directorate-General for Heritage, the creation, renovation and expansion of museums. It manages decentralized funds for the acquisition of works of art to enrich the collections (Fonds régional d'acquisition pour les musées). It awards grants for the computerization, preventive conservation, restoration of collections as well as for actions of presentation of works to the public: exhibitions, animations, publications and reception. It provides training aids for museum staff (curators, reception and supervisory staff). The DRAC may also be requested, as a consultant, by museums that are not part of the French museum network.
