Two days to celebrate libraries
Libraries are evolving and modernizing to open the door to digital. Video games, conferences, debates, artistic creation, board games or music workshops, they offer a wide variety of activities, becoming spaces for intergenerational living and sharing. They create a link with the public.
A strong presence in rural areas
A third of French people live in rural areas, and enjoy a less dense cultural offer than the rest of the population. With 15,500 sites across the country, libraries are the most densely populated cultural facilities in France, less than 10 minutes from each resident. In Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, we have 1,141 libraries or reading places. 7 inhabitants out of 10 live in a municipality equipped*.
They are of paramount importance because of the link they create with the populations furthest from cultural life.
The 28 and 29 September will be an opportunity to highlight these innovative meeting places. Throughout France, more than 660 festive and free events will be organized. These days will also be an opportunity to highlight the work and investment of the 35,000 professionals who work daily to bring libraries and media libraries to life.
