Pass the gates of the gardens of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté
This national event aims to introduce the public to the richness and variety of parks and gardens. More than two hundred owners, gardeners, landscapers and botanists from the region are mobilizing to transmit their know-how and passion to visitors. This annual event also allows to highlight the actions implemented by garden owners, local authorities and the Ministry of Culture to study, protect, conserve, restore, create and enhance labeled gardens «Remarkable garden».
What is the «Jardin remarquable» label?
Created in 2004, the «Jardin remarquable» label honours gardens of particular cultural, aesthetic, historical or botanical interest. Awarded by the Ministry for a renewable period of five years, it concerns small or large gardens, historical or contemporary and of all styles.
Obtaining the «Remarkable Garden» label allows the owner to benefit from some advantages such as:
- a mention on all communication documents issued by the Ministry of Culture;
- a road sign with the logo of the label;
- authorization to use the label and its logo on all communication and signage documents;
- the possibility of taking into account gardens in the definition of local urban plans.

The five senses in the garden
For this 21e edition, the Ministry of Culture chose the theme of the «five senses in the garden». Organizers are invited to set up guided tours, workshops, conferences or exhibitions related to the theme.
Visitors will awaken all their senses by observing the different floral compositions, listening to the birds singing, the sound of the wind in the foliage of the trees or by smelling the scent of flowers and the smell of the wet earth. They can also touch the materials, textures present in parks and gardens or taste the sweetness of the fig, the salty radish or the acidity of blackcurrant.
The theme of «five senses in the garden» is a real invitation to live a unique sensory experience in these natural spaces.
