International and regional cooperation
For several years the DAC Martinique has implemented an active policy of diffusion of Martinique artists in the fields of plastic arts, theatre, music and dance with particular attention to the Caribbean space.
These actions of valorization of Martinique creators were set up with the assistance of the Alliances françaises des Grandes Antilles. This partnership took the form of agreements signed with the General Delegation of the Alliance Française to the Lesser Antilles and with the Alliances Françaises of Brazil and Venezuela (Caracas). Moreover, the signing of a specific agreement with the Alliances Françaises Foundation has allowed artists, musicians and dancers from Martinique to disseminate their creations while showing a marked interest in arts and cultural education.
Several artists benefit from this scheme, including:
- For the music : Esy Kennenga, Black Kalagan, Joby Bernabé, Maher Beauroy, Ymelda
- For the dance: David Milôme, GEDC Coy
- For the theatre: La Cie l'Autre Bord, Lucette Salibur, Aurélie Dalmat, Cie ZIG-ZAG (puppets)
- For Visual Arts/Photography: Jean Luc de Laguarigue, Robert Charlotte (photographer)
2015 has helped to strengthen collaboration between the Alliances Françaises network, notably through the influence built by the Alliance Française de Sainte-Lucie. Artists, musicians, dancers, actors and visual artists have benefited from the opportunities created by this partnership to go from Martinique to meet audiences from the Caribbean: Dominica, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, not forgetting Caracas, an alliance with which the partnership has been further strengthened.
The artists who were programmed by this device are: Esy Kennenga, Black Kalagan, Joby Bernabé, David Milôme, Cie l'Autre Bord, Lucette Salibur (Cie Azwel), Aurélie Dalmat, Jean-Luc de Laguarique, Robert Charlotte.
Collaborations also take place with the Fondation Alliances françaises. This year, two Martinique artists, David Milôme and Maher Beauroy, have been programmed in Ghana and South Korea.
For the year 2016, this partnership, which is of interest to both artists and audiences, is a real tool for cultural development, in particular because it makes it possible to reach audiences that are often far from the performing arts, will continue. Pedagogical and cultural actions will be added. This will be the case in particular with Maher Beauroy (pianist) who will pilot master-classes at the music school of Saint Lucia.
Almost €80,000 will be spent on this device.
The DAC of Martinique will participate in the two days organized by the French Alliances network on 8 and 9 October 2016 in Guadeloupe: showcase, information meetings... will be on the program.
2017 will see the programming of several artists from Martinique: artists, musicians, dancers, actors. The selection is ongoing, in collaboration with several local and Guadeloupean operators including the national scenes.
In 2018, the DAC will accompany the establishment of the 1st festival "Tout-Monde" in Miami which will offer a program of artists from Martinique related to both live performance and visual arts.
