Since its creation, La FABRI'K, directed by Léna Blou, has offered a program of creative and research residencies and conferences: it develops regional and international cooperation while continuing to foster exchanges and experimentation in order to promote and bring out singular choreographic writings.
Today Centre Caribéen de Recherche Chorégraphique (CCRC), the structure meets the needs of choreographers, dancers and dance researchers by offering workspaces, exchange and reflection, residency times and meetings with audiences.
In order to support the projects of the place, and the artistic direction of Léna Blou, the Cultural Affairs Department of Guadeloupe and the Northern Islands has awarded to LA FABRIK the name «Atelier de Fabrique Artistique» (AFA) - the first in Guadeloupe.
The Ateliers de Fabrique Artistique (AFA) are places of research and experimentation for artists and encounters with the public. Collective, independent and multidisciplinary, the AFA are spaces of artistic creation, located in rural or urban areas. They are part of an approach of proximity, spatial planning and networking of cultural actors.
This recognition also salutes the career of Léna Blou, choreographer, performer, teacher and doctor in anthropology of dance, who has been working for more than 30 years in Guadeloupe and around the world.
A ceremony that took place under the gaze of many personalities of the artistic community, who came to celebrate the signing of this name. Léna Blou and Marie-Laure Poitout, president of La FABRI'K, expressed their great emotion for this unprecedented moment in Guadeloupe.
