Objectives of the approach
The aid is granted in the context of restoration operations for unclassified instruments (not protected as historic monuments) or creation of new instruments, and focuses on the instrumental part of the organ.
The aid may also be used in addition to the unclassified instrumental part of an organ whose classified part (for example, the organcase) is assisted by the general management of the patrimony.

The aid is intended for the client, most often the public authority that owns the building in which the organ is located.
The project must not have started at the time of application. The execution can begin only after receipt by the applicant of the acknowledgement of receipt of the complete file.
Projects involving a simple organ raising are not eligible.
Projects involving an organ protected as a historical monument are not eligible for this specific device, and must be the subject of a request to the heritage services of the DRAC (more here)
Procedure
The amount of the grant varies according to the project, and is calculated on the basis of the estimated budget submitted in the file.
The process for awarding and then paying the grant is regulated by decree no. 2018-514 of 25 June 2018.
For the organs, however, it is preceded by a first phase of examination of the project by the services of the regional directorate of cultural affairs and the services of the general directorate of artistic creation. The administration then issues a notice, which is not worth awarding a grant, but allows to move on to the administrative stage of examining the application.
It is therefore necessary to contact the DRAC (music service) of the region in which the organ concerned is located before any online approach.
In addition to the administrative documents, the files include, for the first stage of review:
- a business case highlighting the musical and cultural objectives of the project, specifying in particular the issues of dissemination and educational activities, conditions of use, objectives of complementarity with other surrounding instruments or other cultural agents;
- a preliminary study showing the administrative and technical feasibility of the proposed operation (health check of the building, possible authorization of historic monuments, note on heating, etc.);
- a preliminary draft of the desired works
The files are evaluated by the General Directorate of Artistic Creation (delegation to music and inspection of creation), after consulting the competent regional direction of cultural affairs, including in case of organ located in a protected building, in the opinion of the regional curator of historic monuments.
The administration then issues a notice, which is not worth awarding a subsidy.
Then, if the opinion is favourable, the project is evaluated according to the usual procedure for awarding an investment grant application.
