Call for projects - Choreographer’s artistic and cultural education mission residency - City of Cannes (06)

The City of Cannes has made Artistic and Cultural Education (EAC) a priority for the cultural development of its territory. As part of the activities of the Théâtre de la Licorne, it encourages the reception of artists in residence throughout the year.

Each year, the Théâtre de la Licorne organizes an EAC residency with a choreographer, in partnership with the Cannes Côte d'Azur Dance Festival, to offer a complete and coherent course around choreographic art to a school audience. This residency plans to install over a long time an artist or an artistic team in a school in order, on the one hand, to include art in all learning (democratization of culture within the school, relationship between knowledge and culture) and on the other hand to allow an artist to work on the transmission processes.

Residency Calendar

• Quarter 1 (September-December 2024 and September-December 2025) / FORM - Involving teachers: meeting and training time between the selected choreographer and the teaching team of the host institution.
• Quarter 2 (January-March 2025 and January-March 2026) / PRACTICE - Make students dance: workshops with students.
• Quarter 3 (April-June 2025 and April-June 2026) / ANALYZE - Revisit the experience: the choreographer-in-residence returns to the school for exchange and mediation with the students and teachers who participated in the project.
• Throughout the year (season 2024-25 and 2025-26) / WATCH – Attend a show(s): discover together, teachers and students, dance shows at the Théâtre de la Licorne and be exposed to different writings and aesthetics of this discipline.

Terms of residence

• Budget: 40,000 € TTC are allocated to this residence, namely 20,000 € per cultural season; this budget includes the remuneration of all stakeholders, all expenses, taxes and contributions included for the mission in its entirety as well as transport costs (including local transfers), accommodation and food.
• Application deadline: 17 May 2024 at 9am.
• Announcement of the name of the artist or artistic team selected between mid-June and mid-July.
