Work of the Commission emploi du CNPS
The Conseil national des professions du spectacle (CNPS) was established by decree of 29 March 1993, amended on 27 August 2013.
Emanation of this Council, the Standing Committee on Employment (became in 2013 "Employment Observation Sub-Committee") is composed of representatives of professional entertainment organisations, social organisations and administration, as well as experts from the research world. Its mission is to produce objective and shared knowledge on employment in the field of performing arts (live and recorded) and strives to pursue three objectives:
- build a statistical information system on employment in entertainment, from all available national and professional sources, regularly updated; this system is now composed of a dozen different sources; it now produces data updated each year on employment, activity and enterprises in the sector, at national and regional level;
- produce methodological recommendations (in particular, in terms of defining the field of entertainment from official classifications) necessary for the harmonization of study procedures, both at national and regional level;
- establish, on the basis of regularly produced statistical data, a shared diagnosis of the employment situation in the show, evolving.
It may also be consulted on any project to develop employment support schemes in the field of live and recorded performance.
The data made available here meet the first and third objectives above. They include the updated data available on the field of employment in the show, whether they come from the Public Statistics (National Accounts, Employment surveys, SISE survey) or from management bodies (Pôle Emploi, Audiens, Afdas) as well as the CNC and Unédic.
