Every year, the association Les Gens d'images - supported by the Ministry of Culture - awards a book dedicated to photography published during the past year by a French publisher with the Nadar Prize.

The Nadar Prize

Created in 1955, the Nadar Prize is organized and awarded by the association Les Gens d'images. It distinguishes a book devoted to photography published during the past year by a French publisher. The Nadar Prize is supported by the Ministry of Culture, the National Library of France, the Nicéphore Niépce Museum and the Escourbiac printer.

In 2022, 150 books were presented to the jury, who assessed the relevance of the subject, the correctness of the editorial choices, the originality and coherence of the model and the care taken in its manufacture.

Ten books are noted for their quality, including the winner who receives an endowment of €10,000 thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture. Meetings are organized in Paris and the provinces to present the award-winning book, including a workshop at the ADAGP. A copy of each book received is kept at the Bibliothèque nationale de France, in the Department of Prints of Photography, a historical partner of the Nadar Prize. The second one joins the Gens d'images collection of the Nicéphore Niépce Museum library in Chalon-sur-Saône.

2022 Winner

The Proclamation of the 68th winner of the Nadar Prize was held on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at the National Library of France. The Nadar Prize was awarded to Siempre that, a book by photographer Céline Croze published by Lamaindonne.

Céline Croze is a French-Moroccan visual artist initially specialized in the cinematographic image. It is in Guatemala, in Latin America, that the story of «Siempre que estemos vicos nos veremos» takes place, reflecting the life of a continent in perpetual reinvention. Oscillating between artistic blurs and visceral scenes, the work of the photographer is sublimated by the artistic direction of David Fourré of the Lamaindonesian publishing house, exclusively dedicated to author photography. Céline Croze is represented by Galerie Sit Down.
