Cooperation and training activities of the Directorate-General for Heritage
Since 1991, the Directorate-General for Heritage has been conducting cooperation activities in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UNESCO.
The Ministry of Culture is identified as a producer of training for heritage specialists and expertise aimed at preventing and above all repairing the effects of disasters and conflicts. The aim is to develop an integrated French international intervention strategy in the field of crisis management, risk prevention and post-conflict or post-crisis recovery.
Actions in this area are generally taken downstream, following a major and deadly crisis.
At the request of the embassies of France abroad or foreign in France or foreign governments, the Ministry of Culture intervenes by proposing a targeted expertise. This expertise is based on a wide range of professions: specialized architects (chief architect of historic monuments, architects of French buildings, etc.), heritage curators (archivists, curators of libraries or museums, archaeologists, curators of historical monuments or of the general inventory of cultural heritage), restaurateurs and specialized companies.
