The Chief Architects of Historical Monuments (ACMH) is a body of specialized architects attached to the Ministry of Culture.
ACMH provides project management for the restoration of state-owned historic monuments, as well as monitoring, advice and expertise on protected heritage at the request of the State.

Preparing for the 2023-2024 competition
It is recommended that candidates prepare for the competition tests prior to the opening of registration on January 8, 2023.
The nature of the tests and the general organisation of the competition are specified in theOrder of 18 September 2014, as amended (18 August 2021) and published in the Official Journal.

To help prepare for the competition, the Ministry of Culture (Heritage and Architecture Branch – DGPA, Heritage Service), provides future applicants with a number of useful documents and links to familiarize them with the historical environment, regulatory and technical aspects of historical monuments.
Future candidates will be able to consult:
- The reference bibliography for the ACMH body access competition;
- The pages of the site Historical Monuments & Heritage Sites.
In the resources are presented: the glossary of terms relating to interventions on historical monuments, annual reviews, technical project management guides (slate, stone, tile, stained glass, etc.), etc. - The site of the Historical Monuments Research Laboratory (LRMH) to obtain information on current research and intervention protocols and on recent publications on research carried out in the field of conservation and restoration of historic monuments;
- The site of the Heritage and Photography Library to read the archives and resources relating to historical monuments since 1837;
- The site of the ACMH Company which presents the restoration projects
(“theses”) supported in previous competitions and held at the Heritage and Photography Library ; - The site of the City of Architecture and Heritage (CAPA), which proposes to review many filmed courses as well as conferences;
- The conference cycles proposed since 2006 by thechaillot school, entitled ' Public courses in history and current architecture ” (www), dedicated to a particular corpus of built space: built habitats and rural landscapes, history of the city, industrial heritage or not yet built, such as gardens, etc.
- The cycle of conferences World history of architecture: an initiation » from 7 September 2022 to 28 June 2023. The result of a partnership between the Ecole du Louvre and the Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine, a program of 37 lessons on the world history of architecture, with the best specialists, architects, curators, academics, art historians to understand how humanity has imagined architectural solutions to the evolution of society.
- The site of the National Heritage Institute (NPI) which makes available a digital media library and the rerun of seminars and conferences:
- The research seminar ' sustainable development and heritage », 2021-2022;
- The series of conferences dedicated to Notre-Dame de Paris “Understanding Notre-Dame-de-Paris. From the Cathedral to the Monument.”, proposed by theNational Heritage Institute and theNational Institute of Art History (INHA).
