Giving Tuesday is the World Day of Generosity and Solidarity. This Tuesday, November 29, 2022 is a great opportunity to support initiatives to create, safeguard heritage and access to culture!

Celebrated each year on last Tuesday of November, it is a mobilizing day born in 2012 in New York - and developed in France since 2017. The movement mobilizes 150 countries and invites everyone to commit to a cause of their own choosing.

How do I get involved?

All project promoters can reference their initiative on the website https://givingtuesday.fr/ (in 2021, 258 actions were referenced). Donors or volunteers can freely choose the initiative that best suits them.

Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to value all forms of engagement : the cash donation, but also the donation in kind, the gift of time.

For example, by giving your time, to act on the ground, you can hold a permanence, organize the logistics of the collections, participate voluntarily in a festival, etc. By doing skills sponsorship (gift in kind), companies may place one or more employees, during their working time, at the disposal of an organisation of general interest or perform, for this association, an unpaid service and without any other consideration.

What initiatives in the cultural sector?

  • On the occasion of Giving Tuesday, the Public Establishment of the Palace, Museum and National Estate of Versailles, launched a campaign of remeublement and restitution of textile decorations of royal apartments to revive the Palace of Versailles and give it the image of an inhabited palace. Since the beginning of the 20th century, research has been conducted to identify the approximately 17,000 pieces of furniture and objects in the royal collections scattered during revolutionary sales in 1793.

  • Les Arts Florissants launch a collection to finance a project combining baroque music and preservation of heritage and gardens.
  • Exponential Dance Co., a company that uses choreographic expression as a vector for exchanges and communication, launches a campaign to continue its efforts to raise awareness of disabilities.
  • The Culturespaces Foundation proposes to donors to fund a cultural heritage discovery program through dance and body expression.
  • TUTTI Passeurs d'arts, organizes a collection of musical instruments.

Giving Tuesday (Tuesday, I give), World Day of Generosity, aims to spread generosity in all its forms, and to show that everyone can act, whatever his age and the cause behind it : sport, environment, solidarity, education, etc. Every year, the movement takes with new partners and new players : companies, foundations, associations, citizens. With our small and very committed team and network, nwe are helping to develop more and more a true culture of giving and philanthropy in France, and this from an early age.
