On 17 October 2003, the 32nd General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) adopted the first Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (IPC) in Paris. Twenty years later, the Ministry of Culture encourages CIP actors to highlight their initiatives celebrating the event.

The Unesco Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage recognizes the need to protect a living heritage that promotes dialogue among peoples, cultural diversity and human creativity. Its aim was to raise awareness of the importance of the PCI highlighting it and strengthening the recognition of holders and practitioners. In particular, it improves the conditions for practice, transmission, backup and dissemination.

Throughout 2023, the Ministry of Culture encourages the actors of the ICP to implement a program celebrating the anniversary of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. It thus invites all organizations, whether institutional, associative or other, to include their event in a national calendar accessible to all, aimed at promoting all initiatives aimed at all types of audiences.

An OpenAgenda platform offers players the possibility to directly enter their initiatives in an annual calendar and locate them on a map of France. The actors can also indicate the desired level of information (description of the event, dates and times, venues, expected audiences, conditions of participation, etc.), which will allow the public to have a global vision of all the actions organized to celebrate this anniversary, to register for events (if the project leader allows it) and to share their favorite events.
