Chimères: artistic projects
CHIMERES (Création – Hybridation – Immersion – Mobilités: Expériences et Recherches en Ecritures Scéniques) is an accompanying program for writing and artistic experimentation up to pre-production. It offers artists from all fields of contemporary creation (theatre, circus, music, dance, visual arts, literature, cinema, design, graphic design, architecture, crafts, etc.) and creators from other worlds. (video game, code, virtual and augmented reality, etc.) explore so-called hybrid artistic forms in the sense that they link the «physical» and «digital» worlds.
A device ofSupport for research and experimentation in hybrid artistic writings and contemporary uses of technologies
Designed by the Ministry of Culture (Direction générale de la création artistique), CHIMERES has been supported since 2018 by the Unique Place (LU), the National Scene of Nantes and the Théâtre Nouvelle Génération (TNG) and the National Drama Centre of Lyon, which are nationally recognized for their investment in creating a digital environment. In 2021, two new partners joined CHIMERES: the Espace des arts, Scène nationale de Chalon-sur-Saône and Le CND – Centre National de la Danse.
CHIMERES invites artists and creators from all walks of life to explore both digital and in situ forms, including:
- Forms that uniquely connect the “physical” and “digital” or “virtual” worlds, which can be broadcast in theatres or exhibition venues, and in cultural institutions in general.
- Forms for public space, used as a field of experience and support for artistic creation via digital technologies.
A progprogramme open to all artistic and creative disciplines
CHIMERES is open to artists and creators from all artistic and creative practices including: theatre, circus, music, dance, visual and visual arts, photography, cinema, video game, code, literature, virtual and augmented reality, design, graphic design, architecture, crafts…
In order to enrich the exchanges and meetings between artists at the time of the first residency of shared creation, complementarity and diversity of profiles is an important criterion of choice of candidates.
This is why CHIMERES wants to be accessible to artists and creators who do not necessarily have previous digital experience in their creations, but want to open up to new working methods to explore new artistic forms.
Similarly, CHIMERES is intended to be accessible to professionals in the creative industries (including coders) who do not necessarily have previous experience of performing arts or plastic installations, but wishing to open up to new approaches to experiment with new artistic forms.
CHIMERES is accessible to all artists and creators (emerging or confirmed) with a desire for artistic exploration, invention, sharing; a spirit of co-creation being the common point solicited from all participants.
