Operation "Tell me ten words"
The awareness campaign «Dis-moi dix mots» invites everyone to play and express themselves from September to June, in a literary and/or artistic form, around ten words chosen by different French-speaking partners: France, Belgium, Quebec, Switzerland and the International Organization of La Francophonie (representing 88 states and governments).
A francophone awareness campaign
« Tell me ten words » and the French Language and Francophonie Week are organized in collaboration with the network OPALE (Francophone Network of Language Policy and Planning Organizations).
This network is composed of the linguistic management bodies of the Francophone countries and regions representing the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, the France, the Quebec and the French-speaking Switzerland, as well as theInternational Organization of the Francophonie.
These five French-speaking partners jointly choose the theme of each edition, as well as the ten words that illustrate it. This theme is intended to convey a message about the French language: writing, orality, language as a social link, the modernity of the language, the ability of the language to express intimacy, to welcome verbal inventions, etc.
2023-2024: «Tell me ten words on the podium»
French is the official language of the Olympic and Paralympic Games alongside English. It was indeed thanks to Baron Pierre de Coubertin that the tradition of the Olympic Games, born in Ancient Greece, was restored to modern times. He initiated the creation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which he chaired for nearly 30 years.
«Tell me ten words» invites you this year to appropriate the vocabulary of sport and Olympism. Sport is not only essential to health, it helps instill values of respect (playing together, sticking together) and surpassing oneself (getting the adrenaline going, escaping, achieving prowess, becoming a champion). Sport is also determination (the mental), it is also the acceptance of the rules (the false start, the offside) and the need to take a break (go to oranges).
Physical activities contribute to fight against school failure and promote the reduction of social and cultural inequalities; «Tell me ten words» offers you to take up this theme and illustrate your love or your dislike of sport, the fear of failure and the taste for victory. Let us not forget that it is also about pleasure and sharing.
Training, repetition, determination are essential to progress in any discipline and get on the podium. But sport is also about team and solidarity. It is driven by a collective dynamic like the French that lives and enriches in the diversity of its expressions around the world.

The contest «Ten words, ten clichés»
The Maison de la francophonie in Marseille (MDFM), the General Delegation for the French Language and the Languages of France (DGLFLF) and the Ministry of Sport and Olympic and Paralympic Games organize a contest of photographs «Ten words, ten clichés» around the words of the edition «Tell me ten words on the podium».
The photographs must illustrate in an original way one of the ten words by giving them an original, funny or singular title with the word chosen or suggesting it.
This competition has a double objective: to encourage amateur photography and to illustrate the mastery of the French language. It is aimed at the general public, French-speaking amateurs of photography, in France and abroad (seniors, people in linguistic insecurity, teenagers, others...) but not at professional photographers.
